Cancer is perceived by most as both a physical & mental ordeal. To confront this grave challenge, a group of doctors, social workers and philanthropists got together under the leadership of Dr. Saroj Gupta and formed a society in 1973. At Thakurpukur on a donated piece of land,

SAROJ GUPTA CANCER CENTRE & RESEARCH INSTITUTE

was incepted initially to provide a sojourn to distressed Cancer patients who came to the city for treatment at different hospitals. In the course of 3 decades, the small 'Home' with 25 beds has emerged as a full-fledged modern Cancer Hospital with 280 beds to be known & loved as

SAROJ GUPTA CANCER CENTRE & RESEARCH INSTITUTE

We say to all our Cancer patients and their relatives - Welcome Home!

Yes, a home, away from home - not a cold blooded iron cage Hospital, with measured doses of air & sunlight, sterile conversations & conditioned laughter. A home, which ensures that there are hundreds of trees lining the broad avenues leading up to the wards and patient service areas. A home with seasonal lilies blooming in its multiple giant ponds, with swans preening themselves in their mirrored waters. A home, where one could take a long walk around the bridges and hillocks before settling back in bed for the daily medicines.

The Institute today is equipped with latest technologies to screen, diagnose & treat every possible form of Cancer. It has been exclusively treating Cancer patients for the last 30 years and the wealth of experience gained by the senior staff is regularly passed on to all the new recruits. There is a fervent zeal amongst all the employees to serve every patient with a smile and a kind word, whether underprivileged or affluent.

Being a philanthropic organization led and supported by brave & kind hearts, the Institute caters to the needs of patients from every walk of life. Every year, hundreds of needy patients avail of free treatment in the form of free / subsidized accommodation, free tests, free medicines and free check ups. The Institute also provides an idyllic ambience for the city's gentry, to carry on their treatment in private, well appointed rooms & deluxe cabins, amidst the lush greenery and tranquility.

The Institute is one of the leading Cancer Hospitals in India, with many National and International accolades to its credit. It is recognized by W.H.O. and has a membership with UICC, Geneva, Switzerland.
