Guidelines for Admission to DNB Courses for the session 2012 - 2014

This hospital is recognized by National Board of Examinations, New Delhi for DNB Programme in the following specialties:

Arrow Broad Specialties Radiotherapy [1 seat for primary candidate and 1 seat for secondary candidate]
Arrow Super Specialties Surgical Oncology [2 seats]
Qualifying candidate seeking admission to above specialty are requested to report to our institute within 7 days from the date of issue of allotment / joining letter by NBE. Also candidate is advised to bring following documents at the time of reporting in original along with certified copies:

Arrow PG Pass Certificate

Selected candidate is also required to pay a sum of Rs. 50,000/- (Fifty thousand rupees only) by Demand Draft / Pay Order in favour of “CANCER CENTRE WELFARE HOME AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE” - Payable at Kolkata as 1st year training charges.

Admission for 1 (one) vacant seat in DNB - SS (Surgical Oncology) for the session 2010-2013 on the basis of CET-SS held on 18.04.2010

Passed candidates seeking entrance are requested to e-mail their bio-data along with CET-SS (18.04.2010) marks to Cancer Centre Welfare Home and Research Institute site within 27.04.2010 and attend The Director’s office on 28.04.2010 (Wednesday) at 11 a.m. with all documents in original. 

The Selection will be as per DNB guidelines. The selected candidate will have to pay the first years’ training fees of Rs.50,000/-( Fifty Thousand Only) on 28.04.2010, so that the admission procedure can be completed within 30.04.2010, as stipulated by the DNB authorities.

Arrow The Institute is recognized as a SIRO (Scientific & Industrial Research Organization) by the DSIR (Dept. of Scientific & Industrial Research), Govt. of Indiasince 1996.

Arrow The University of Calcutta has recognized the Institute for PhD studies in Cancer Research, Radiodiagnosis & Radiotherapy since 2000.

Arrow Development of an Atlas of Cancer in India Funded by National Cancer Registry Programme(NCRP) of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

Arrow Pattern of care studies in common cancers of India: A pilot project: Funded by NCRP (ICMR).

Arrow A global trial on duration of tamoxifen use (ATLAS) is continuing. Accrual is complete. Global Co-ordinating Centre is at Oxford, UK.

Arrow Support activities for Population Based Cancer Registries (PBCR) of N-E India: Funded by NCRP (ICMR).

Arrow A pilot study on effect of consumption of tea, financed by Tea Research Association (TRA), Kolkata has been completed.

Arrow A project proposal for further clinical work on consumption of tea and cancer has been submitted as part of the New Millennium Indian Technological Leadership      Initiative (NMITLI) Project to CSIR.

Arrow A Phase II Clinical Trial - Zen 01/ 2004. Credence CRO, funded by Zenotech.


Star Training Courses


Arrow The National Board of Examinations has entrusted the Institute with training courses in 3 disciplines - Radio Diagnosis, Radiotherapy and Surgical Oncology. Since 1987, about 50 students have been trained in different DNB courses.

Arrow The State Medical Faculty of West Bengal conducts a number of paramedical courses at the Institute. These are DRD in Radiography, DMLT in Pathology and DRT in Radiotherapy.

Arrow Weekly CME: Regular weekly 'Continued Medical Education' is held in the beautiful Seminar Hall where different oncology related topics are discussed. Eminent Doctors of the city and even from abroad are invited as Guest Speakers and Chairpersons. Any interested Doctors and trainees are most welcome.
