Information for 'DNB Trainee' Applicants for the session 2007 - 2009:
Requisite Qualifications Seats Stipend
 
For Radiotherapy & Radiodiagnosis:
1. MBBS, Qualified in DNB / CET conducted by the National Board of Examinations.
1Additional Seat Each (Duration - 3 yrs) 1st year - Rs 10,000/-
2nd year - Rs 11,000/-
3rd year - Rs 12,000/-
2. PG Diploma holders recognized by MCI (provided the primary seats are taken). 1 Additional Seat Each (Duration - 2 yrs) 1st year - Rs 11,000/-
2nd year - Rs 12,000/-
For Surgical Oncology:
¨ MS DNB (General Surgery) equivalent, recognized by DNB
2 Seats (Duration - 3 yrs) 1st year - Rs 14,000/-
2nd year - Rs 15,000/-
3rd year - Rs 16,000/-
 
DNB Trainees shall be selected as per DNB norms. Please visit www.natboard.nic.in for details.
All selected candidates will be required to:
  • Remain residential, on the Hospital premises (in the quarters provided) throughout their period of training.
  • Pay training charges of Rs. 50,000/- (Rupees Fifty Thousand only) per annum as per DNB norms.
  • Strictly adhere to the Hospital rules & regulations, as updated from time to time, including reporting to designated authorities & following terms of service.

Research
Cancer Centre Thakurpukur has been awarded the following recognitions over the years:
Member of the International Union against Cancer (UICC), Geneva, Switzerland since 1994.
The Institute is recognized as a SIRO (Scientific & Industrial Research Organization) by the DSIR (Dept. of Scientific & Industrial Research), Govt. of India since 1996.
The University of Calcutta has recognized the Institute for PhD studies in Cancer Research, Radiodiagnosis & Radiotherapy since 2000.

Development of an Atlas of Cancer in India Funded by National Cancer Registry Programme(NCRP) of Indian Council of Medical Research(ICMR).
Pattern of care studies in common cancers of India: A pilot project: Funded by NCRP (ICMR).
A global trial on duration of tamoxifen use (ATLAS) is continuing. Accrual is complete. Global Co-ordinating Centre is at Oxford, UK.
Support activities for Population Based Cancer Registries (PBCR) of N-E India: Funded by NCRP (ICMR).
A pilot study on effect of consumption of tea, financed by Tea Research Association (TRA),Kolkata has been completed.
A project proposal for further clinical work on consumption of tea and cancer has been submitted as part of the New Millennium Indian Technological Leadership Initiative (NMITLI) Project to CSIR.
A Phase II Clinical Trial - Zen 01/ 2004. Credence CRO, funded by Zenotech.




 


Training Courses

The National Board of Examinations has entrusted the Institute with training courses in 3 disciplines - Radio Diagnosis, Radiotherapy and Surgical Oncology. Since 1987, about 50 students have been trained in different DNB courses.
The State Medical Faculty of West Bengal conducts a number of paramedical courses at the Institute. These are DRD in Radiography, DMLT in Pathology and DRT in Radiotherapy.
Weekly CME : Regular weekly 'Continued Medical Education' is held in the beautiful Seminar Hall where different oncology related topics are discussed. Eminent Doctors of the city and even from abroad are invited as Guest Speakers and Chairpersons. Any interested Doctors and trainees are most welcome.

Regular conferences, Seminars, Workshops of State, National & International levels are held in our Auditorium every year. Some of the noteworthy are :
